Tell MDOT: We need trains, not lanes!
Calling all Maryland Rail Passengers!
The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) is issuing a survey about the I-270/ Beltway Public Private Partnership project that you need to participate in!
There is an area for comment in the survey (at the end of each segment questionnaire, but also specifically question 19 at the end of the survey) where we can say how important it is to have a rail component to traffic relief. The project's environmental review precluded looking at any alternative transportation options, and for those that care about responsible use of tax dollars, it's important to note that the MARC Brunswick Line parallels the I-270 corridor and warrants the investment more. We need more service on the weekdays given increasing ridership, we need reverse commutes, and we need weekend service. We could move more people faster for cheaper, given that if properly utilized, a two track railroad can carry 16 lanes worth of highway traffic.
